The 4-Pole Problem:
With no uniform approach to 4-pole TRRS wiring, the wrong signal might be going to the wrong wire during transmission. The CTIA and OMTP standards are the most common, covering 95% of all TRRS connections. This adapter switches the wiring internally between these two standards, effectively swapping the Sleeve and Ring terminals.

Apple hands-free kits and earbuds with an inline microphone for phone chat on Apple products use proprietary wiring for call accept/cancel and media controls. This adapter cannot convert iPhone earbuds for use with non-Apple devices.
